Phumla Motsa is a Registered Occupational Therapist and the Founder of  Remote Ergonomics & MotsaHealth, a 100% female black-owned occupational therapy practice in Johannesburg, South Africa. With more than 15 years of consulting experience, Phumla has helped small and large South African companies and employees struggling with productivity and non-performance due to an illness or injury to optimize their contribution at work.   Her passion lies in improving the lives of ordinary people and supporting them to return to a sustainable productive life. She supports organizations with Functional Capacity Evaluations to determine whether an employee (following an injury or illness) can perform their work tasks, Case Management, providing for a smooth return to work for employees that have been off work for some time, Ergonomics workstation assessments and home office ergonomic workstation setup, as well as Speaking and Training on the fact that according to the WHO “Musculoskeletal conditions are the leading contributor to disability worldwide, with low back pain being the single leading case of disability in 160 countries”.   Phumla is also an Associate at Work-Link and an ASISA Academy Trainer.   Before starting her own business, Phumla consulted for Alexander Forbes Consultants & Actuaries Limited, a global financial services company that specialises in insurance, health, retirement, life, and other wealth and assets solutions.   Phumla holds a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of the Witwatersrand, a Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation from the University of Pretoria, and a Diploma in Health Economics from the University of Cape Town, in South Africa.

Samwel Ndandala is a growth mindset leader with over thirteen years of experience in finance, reporting, local and international tax as well as transfer pricing. He has advised a number of multinational banks in Africa and Europe on finance, strategy, and taxation. Samwel has been a member of the Tanzania’s Finance Minister’s Think Tank, advising him on fiscal policy matters. He has also addressed the budgetary committee of the parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania. Samwel also regularly produces thought leadership materials and publications. An effective communicator, Samwel has delivered numerous technical trainings and talks in professional and business associations, including the ACCA (UK), CPA (T), CEO Roundtable (Tanzania), and South African, American, British, and European Union Business Groups in Tanzania. Samwel holds a Masters from SOAS, University of London, and a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Mzumbe University (Tanzania) and is a member of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK, and Certified Public Accountant CPA, Tanzania.

Janet Mbene is a distinguished Senior Economist, International Trade, Regional Integration, Finance and Banking Expert. She has a wealth of Government Cabinet Ministerial, Parliamentary, Board, and Senior Leadership experience. Janet’s expertise spans across the public, private, civil society, international development, and academic sectors. Ms. Mbene is the Founder and Director of SIA Limited, a private firm that provides both entrepreneurship and business services to MSMEs and investment services to both domestic and international investors. She is also a Senior Associate Consultant, Trade & Investment & Government Relations at Modesta Mahiga LLC. Janet specializes in stakeholder engagement and program design and implementation for policy, regulatory, and institutional reforms to promote inclusive and sustainable, economic, financial, and human capital development and impact. Janet holds a Master’s Degree in Agriculture Economics from the University of New England, Australia and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

“Your Network is Your Net Worth”. Remmie Male is a multitalented individual who wears many hats. She is an accomplished Author, Writer, Business Incubator, Trainer, Speaker, and Executive Coach. With a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Makerere University, Remmie has used her expertise to make a positive impact in her community. As the Founder of Jamboree et Rendezvouz, an Events Management, and PR Firm, Remmie has honed her skills in organizing and promoting various projects.  Additionally, she is a proprietor of the Women of Valor Foundation. It focuses on empowering women and youth economically through Mentorship, Executive Coaching, Business Training, and Motivational Talks.  Through her company and foundation, Remmie has worked diligently on projects that aim to fundraise, raise awareness, and empower communities economically. She has successfully organized seminars like Dominion in the Market Place, which empowers employable church folks by equipping them with skills in Branding, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, and Personal Leadership. Remmie’s dedication to the community has been recognized by prestigious organizations. She is an alumni of Vital Voices Global Women’s Network and the Irex Community Solutions Program both of which annually awards community leaders for their outstanding contributions. In this episode of the Modesta Mahiga 360 Leadership Podcast, we are joined by Dr. Lwidiko Edward Mhamilawa and we are going to talk about “Building the Next Generation of Globally Competitive African Leaders in STEM” Dr. Lwidiko Mhamilawa is a lecturer at the Department of Parasitology and Medical Entomology at MUHAS. Lwidiko is also a co-founder of ProjeKt Inspire, a social enterprise that focuses on introducing a child-centered approach to learning Science Technology Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects, known as project-based integrated learning; for both primary and secondary school-age children.  The objective is to provide proof of concept for the incorporation of the approach into the current education system as a way to equip and inspire the young generation into STEM fields and foster innovation and development in the country.  His works have led to him becoming the Next Einstein Forum Ambassador to Tanzania and the recipient of the Point of Light Award from Queen Elizabeth.  As a Tanzanian born, raised, and educated in both public and private schools in the country, he has first-hand experience of the education system and potential room for improvement especially in areas of STEM education.  Through ProjeKt Inspire, Lwidiko and his dedicated team of passionate young STEM professionals have launched two largest science centers as the first of their kind, in Dar es Salaam and Tanga, Tanzania, as the first step toward the dream of building Disneyland for Science in Africa.
