How to 10x Your Leadership Results

Updated: Sep 11

3 Sure Strategies

Are you stuck at the same level of delivery despite your best efforts? Do you find yourself staring at the details, looking for clues, but cannot see what could be amiss?

Here are three sure strategies to get unstuck, and to 10x your leadership results:

1.Get a Sparring Partner

"One can chase one thousand, two can chase ten thousand."

- Deuteronomy 32:30

Chasing one thousand is no small feat. So don't dismiss what you have been able to achieve thus far as a leader.

So to read that you can start from that great height and still be able to 10x those results by collaborating with just one other leader goes to prove the insane results that come from synergistic complementarity.

No matter how great you are, the worst place you can be when in a fix is alone in your head.

Fear, past experience, skewed perceptions, and external pressures are some of the many foes lurking in the dark crevices of your mind, keeping you ruminating over, or jumping to conclusions that lead you to make less than satisfactory decisions.

Recruit a trusted advisor to spar with over alternatives, and pretty soon you'll get out of that rut, and be able to make clear, profitable decisions that will 10x your results.

2.Review Your Crew

"Leaders are not responsible for the results. Leaders are responsible for the people who are responsible for the results."

- Simon Sinek

That's a double-edged sword. When it works, leaders benefit from being surrounded by highly engaged and high-performing people; when it doesn't, leaders are burdened by being surrounded by low-motivated and low-performing people.

So what does a leader do?

To ensure that they are surrounded by people with the right character, competence, and relational connection to 10x results, leaders must review their crew to hire, compensate, develop, engage, promote, shuffle, and terminate to build teams that individually, and collectively deliver at that level.

This can be difficult because people's self-esteem, livelihoods, and careers are on the line. Handled with dignity and professionalism, however, by regularly reviewing their crew, leaders are able to 10x everyone's contribution, and the unit's overall output.

3.Change Course

"Don't cling to a mistake because you spent a lot of time making it."

- Aubrey de Grey

This quote always makes me chuckle because we often do this, don't we?

Sometimes, it's not that it was a mistake; it could be that what worked in the past, no longer does, or decisions were made on assumptions that, in execution, are found to be ill-fitting. In either of these instances, continuing to pursue that course of action yields ever-diminishing returns for the leader, teams, and organization.

The best move is to change course, cut the chord, count your losses, and get laser-focused on what works. By allocating resources to the correct investment, leaders can 10x results, that were previously stunted by being misallocated to other pursuits.

“There is no decision that we can make that doesn't come with some sort of balance or sacrifice "

- Simon Sinek

“Effective leadership is putting first things first. Effective management is discipline, carrying it out"

- Stephen Covey
