5 Links to Transform Your Life as a 360 Leader
Updated: Sep 11

Ever wake up on the morning of your birthday feeling like one year older means one less year to right past wrongs and accomplish future goals?
Waking up like that really does a number on you.
I turned 42 in December.
For the first birthday of my life, I woke up with total peace and joy. No regrets about the past, no anxiety about the future.

Why was this birthday different?
Because I stopped regretting, blaming, hoping, wishing, and waiting for things to change, and started taking action to cause them to change.
“Results don't come out of nowhere.”
-Modesta Mahiga.
We have often been told and have even come to believe that, as leaders, we cannot have it all.
That if we want to succeed in career or business, then our families may have to be sacrificed, or if we want to invest in social impact, it would have to be at the expense of financial wealth.
But that is not true.
We were created to be able to enjoy total-life success.
360 Leadership
We each exist in a 360 reality that has at least 10 aspects; spiritual, mental, emotional, physical, personal, relational, professional, financial, leadership, impact.
Every one of these areas affects every other area of our lives. And we need each one of these areas to align for us to truly thrive as human beings.

It has taken much work to get to a place where I can say I have peace and joy (even though I still aspire and continue to strive for more).
If you are still struggling to get it all together, I hope this newsletter will help you too.
This is what I did:
No longer willing to accept that success in one area has to come at the sacrifice of another equally important area of my life, I began to get intentional about investing in learning, applying, and growing in each of these areas, little by little, day by day.

My Gift to You
As my gift to you and your journey as a 360 leader, I have put together a list of five of my go-to resources (in no particular order of priority) that have helped me to live a life of peace, joy, balance, and profit.
I pray you will enjoy and find them useful, or at least be inspired to search for resources that will help you develop as a 360 Leader.
1.Financial Peace University
Since personal finances affect every area of life, and the lack or mismanagement thereof, is one of the leading causes of career and marital dissatisfaction, investing in understanding and managing your personal finances is one of the wisest decisions you can make.
Both my husband and I have taken Financial Peace University, and would highly recommend it and the EveryDollar App for monthly budgeting and financial management to help you be on top of your personal and family finances.
What do you after you have learned about mastering your personal finances?
Start applying your skills to "achieve financial independence and realize your ambitions", of course.
Having followed and read the advice of financial gurus from Warren Buffet to Dave Ramsey and Robert Kiyosaki, I started looking for strategies to make our money work for me and my family.
Visiting family friends one day, I pulled the lady aside to learn how she has been able to make money work for her and hers.
This is someone I have watched make small, steady, financial, and lifestyle changes to be able to buy a house, pay for graduate education, take the entire family on vacation overseas, build wealth for the future and much more.
“It's not how much money you make, but how much money you keep, how hard it works for you, and how many generations you keep it for.”
-Robert Kiyosaki.
She highly recommended SoFi.
Having tried it myself, I have basically been a low-key ambassador since that day.
If you are in the U.S., use my SoFi invite below for attractive and competitive products for banking transactions, saving towards goals, investing in stocks and crypto, building and managing credit, and planning for the future with real-time, expert inisghts.
3.NOOM
I knew I had to get serious about my health after back-to-back medical emergencies, but without a plan and support, kept on yo-yoing back and forth.
That's when I decided to subscribe to NOOM - a nutrition and fitness service that uses psychology to equip you to understand and to make mindset and lifestyle choices to achieve your goals and sustain a healthy lifestyle for life.
Use my code for a free trial and 20% discount should you choose to sign up for NOOM.
4.NASHONA

Dressing well is not just for interviews. Your appearance and your style are part of your personal branding; communicating who you are, what you stand for, whom you are speaking to, at what level, and even what you are worth.
Building an online presence for my business has meant that I am often on Youtube and social media. My signature look over the years is African couture; transforming Tanzanian kitenge cloth outfits into business and formal wear.
Having moved away from my beloved Tanzania, it became cumbersome to get tailor-made kitenge. That is until Lilian Danieli of NASHONA (Swahili for, "I sew") rescued me with mesmerizing NASHONA outfits.
If you like my pieces, visit NASHONA and enjoy 20% off your order with the promo code MODESTA20. They have both men's and women's African apparel and accessories and yes, they ship worldwide.
5.AUDIBLE

I started boarding school when I was eight years old and only really emerged after university.
A friend of mine reminded me that I always had my nose in a book when we were at boarding school together as teens. One day, when I finally agreed to go away with the girls for the weekend, she noticed that my bag was full of books and asked me where my clothes were. Apparently I replied, "my books will clothe me in the future."
A little intense for a teenager, no? Sigh.
My final link, which continues to be my all-time go-to resource, is a link to Audible.com, a subscription service for audio books you can listen to anytime, anywhere.
As an adult, I have learned a few things through formal education and certifications (and continue to). The rest, I have learned on-the-go through reading books.
I highly recommend Audible.com for books on leadership, management, career, business, personal development, personal branding, personal finance, marriage, parenting, you name it.
If not in a position to invest in an audio book subscription, browse through YouTube and podcasts, plus follow accounts on LinkedIn and Twitter that show you how to stay ahead of the game at work and in life, as a 360 Leader.
